Originally designed as a ladies’ watch chain, the Albertina is distinguished by its elegant and decorative construction. Compared with the heavier Albert chains typically worn by men, Albertina chains were created with a greater emphasis on refinement and ornamentation. They became especially popular during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, reflecting the delicate craftsmanship for which British silverwork of the era is renowned. This bracelet features a three-strand construction, combining two curb chains with a finely detailed wire chain. The wire chain is decorated with elegant coiled-wire elements and sculptural motifs reminiscent of double rings, while spherical connectors adorned with intricate hand engraving beautifully unite the different decorative elements into a harmonious design.
